Lots of reading is going on in my house……..I needed another bookmark.  The first one that I made for myself is quite big so I needed a smaller one that would easily fit into a paperback book.  The quote says, “There is time…for everything.”~Thomas Edison.  I had to put in my two cents worth and add, “especially books”. lol   It’s lot of fun to make these and oh-so easy!  Now I need to go grab my new book that I bought today and get to reading!

Here’s a corner bookmark that I made today for my daughter, Abby. I thought of the “this is my spot” idea sometime late last night and I almost got up to make this bookmark, because I could see the completed project so clearly in my head. lol  I tried to make it fun and use her favorite colors. It’s a surprise and a good thing to give her today because she and I went to the bookstore this afternoon and she got a new book to read. She’s just like I am……..always with her nose in a book!

I have been working on this one here and there for over a month. I started it and got stuck, so I left it out and I have been working on it little by little since then. Today, I really got on a roll and I got it finished. It NEVER takes me this long to complete a layout, but for some reason this one wanted to take it’s time, so I let it. Lots of odds and ends supplies here and just a lot of stuff! I like it and it will be put in my BOM. I am really enjoying doing these “for fun” layouts just because I want to. lol

bookmark

Here’s a bookmark that I made today. I was feeling the need to create something, but I knew I wasn’t going to be able to do a layout or anything like that. I’ve been reading A LOT all summer and I thought it would be fun to have a neat bookmark. Here’s what I made from the corner of an envelope. It slides just perfectly onto my page and keeps my place w/o me having to worry about it sliding out. It was a fun and quick project to satisfy my muse this afternoon. 🙂

Here’s what it looks like in my book……..I’m reading Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer right now. I got sucked into those darn books and I’ve been pretty useless and will be until I read all 4 of them. lol

I have really been able to crank these pages out and got on a roll this evening in between my guilty pleasure shows on Bravo.  That darn Shear Genius and Project Runway. lol  Oh well.  Here are 6 more pages!  I’m chugging along with this album and I’m about 1/3 of the way finished.  I can’t wait to start working on the photos from Mount Rushmore!  But, I have cabin photos to do first.   Oh well, done is done and that’s a lot farther than I’ve ever been since I’ve had these photos waiting to be scrapped since August 2001.

Well, I must admit that one of the biggest selling points to the house we just moved into (for me!) was that it had a HUGE mud room. I can’t explain how excited I was when we first walked in it and saw how big it was! I went from pretty much standing in a closet to do laundry to being in a room as big as a kitchen. So, one day I asked my husband if I could “Girlie-Up” the mud room and he said that was fine. I think he was a little nervous when he saw the color I wanted, but he was a good sport and the painting began! I picked out “Purple Dragon” from Pittsburg Paints. These photos don’t do it justice. lol It is a pretty, lilac color. What was going to be just painting the walls turned into a full-fledged (well, almost) room makeover. He ended up changing out all of the window casings and floor boards to white boards with grooves in them and the square flourishes in each corner. Talk about fancy! I stitched together some curtains out of black and white toile fabric and the re-do was complete! I LOVE my mud room and I even love doing laundry in it. The best thing, of course, is that I have a lot of cabinets and a counter to work on. I like to stand while I work (a habit from working in a school workroom for 6 years standing to work on projects!) so having a counter top like this works great for me as a workspace. I do have a tall chair that I can use to sit on, if I feel like it. I am still working on how I have things in my cabinets, but here is a look as to how things are, so far…….lol

chalk pastels, oil pastels, water colors, water color pencils, regular colored pencils & a calligraphy pen set.

The last drawer has more painting supplies: chalk pastels, oil pastels, water colors, water color pencils, regular colored pencils & a calligraphy pen set.

Now, I have bottom cabinets that are full, but totally unorganized and not too pretty to look at right now. One side has boxes full of printed photos that I’m trying to organize and go through. More Photo Freedom business. lol There are also 2, 8.5×11 drawer units under there that hold all of my punches, die-cut attachments and dies, and some odds & ends things. The other side of this cabinet has all of my sewing supplies in it, including cross-stitch supplies and patterns.

On top of the upper cabinets I have baskets of various things: letter templates, tins and other things that can be altered, ribbons, and foam stamps.

So that’s it for now! I am so proud of my new room and I will be tweeking things often!

I am so excited that I was able to do some scrapping last night.  Very late last night, but better then than not at all!  I have been working on a travel album of photos from our trip to South Dakota in 2001.  I had been putting this project off for every because I was so freaked out with the idea of scrapping 14 rolls of photos from on event.  I didn’t know what to do, where to start, and so on.  Then I saw Stacy Jillian’s idea for doing pages in a 2-up pocket album.  My life was saved when I read this and I immediately went out and bought what I needed.  Lots of fun embellies, a 200-page/2-up pocket album and fun paper.  I started it back in April, but our move kind of put a halt to all scrapping.  Until last night!  I was able to do 12 pockets worth of “pages”.  If you’re like to see the first set of pages that I did, click here.  There is quite a bit left to do, but this sure is going fast and easy and just plain fun!  Here’s what I got done last night:
